RRTC : Workshop at District Collector office, Thane.

Maintenance & Welfare of Parents & Senior Citizens Act, 2007 is a crucial law for all the senior citizens as it helps them in fighting for their rights whe

n their children betray them.

Sensitisation programme and training was organised by CSSC at District Collector office in Thane. An informal session on challenges faced while dealing with such cases by the police were discussed.

District Collector Mr Rajesh Narwekar gave some insights into how they are solving the issues related to elderly abuse and discussed the major reasons pertaining to such cases.

Mr Prakash Borgaonkar of HelpAge India gave some statistical information about how this law is helpful to each one of us and shared stories of families where he solved the problems by counselling and also stated that 7 out of 10 cases can be solved by counselling without even visiting the court.

Seminar conducted by CSSC made police people more aware about the laws pertaining to senior citizens and they acknowledged that they will consider senior citizens cases with utmost priority in future.
